DaJoint: Z.M.D.C. - Zero Metal Defence Capsule - White Trooper - Jiu Gang

White TrooperSometimes I like to review toys or figures I don't actually sell. If these weren't so hard to get I would have stocked a few. This figure has moved to the top of my collection in favorite figures. Its definitely in the top three and could be number one. Being a Sci-fi fan makes it very easy to accept this as the best figure to date. Plus once you see some of the pictures below you might agree that its definitely worthy of any collection and should be a must have. And thank god we finally have something other than a W.W.II figure for a change. I like my figures to have just a bit of fantasy to them.

I thought the PanzerCop from Dragon Models was going to be it this year for awesome looking fantasy type figures, but I was pleasantly surprised by this figure from DaJoint.

Here is a little bit of story from the box.

2037 A.D. An Iron meteor shower rained down from the sky and brought the human civilization to an end.

Years later, inside the enormous crater of Hong Kong island. Some surviving scientists discovered a large meteorite floating in the air. The phenomenon was caused by the extreme force and temperature generated during the meteor impact, resulting in a realignment of matter's atomic structure. The scientists named the anti-gravity meteorite as "Zero Metal".

2067 A.D. The new Hong Kong declared independence, named itself "Gang Dao". A highly mobilized armor unit armed with Zero Metal technology is introduced as a force to police the region's security.

Anger and the fearful Kowloon civilians united to fight these troops for their own sovereignty.

This is the White Trooper - Jiu Gang, and I'm not sure if that last part is a translation of White Trooper or the characters name. I can't read Chinese so I'm in the dark, besides I'm not even sure if they misspelled "Defence" on the box on purpose. Before I go any further I better mention that JimBobWan also did a review, which you can read now or later. He may cover the details that I leave out. I'm more of picture type of reviewer with some tips thrown in.

I also want to mention that I got this figure from Greg Brown of Eklyps Custom Figures & Collectibles. Give him a shout and maybe you can score one still. There is also a Camo version that is at least $50.00 more than this one. Check out DaJoint's website for images of that one.

Let's start the show off with a few images of the box and the figure just out of the box. The box is really big. It holds 3 trays that are cleverly attached to each other and fold like an accordion into the box. I love the presentation but if you plan to open the figure and put him back, forget it. You have to cut the trays open to release the goodness.

Okay, so now you have a good idea about the looks of the packaging and the basics of the figure itself. Note that the black outfit is very thickly padded. The hood is attached to the outfit and the outfit fits very tight. I wasn't about to strip the outfit from the figure yet. Though I might down the road, because I really don't care for the body. The headsculpt isn't as bad as you might first think. It really kind of grew on me, so I will probably keep it even if I change the body. I think the body is decent with articulation but the hands really suck.

Now you see basically most of the Zero Metal suit parts. It has the best battle worn paint scheme I have ever laid my eyes on. Notice that everything opens and is very user friendly. The outer boots though are a bitch if you don't get the regular ones sitting inside them just right. If you don't get them inserted correctly you will have the figures regular boots all squishy looking. There are many moving parts that have to be opened and closed before you get a nice fit. But all in all the figure really dresses up nice and easy once you get the hang of it. I also got the feeling that its all very well made and isn't going to break at the slightest touch. Next is dress up time for the White Trooper.

Yes that wire from weapon to the backpack is a wrapped flexible wire, very cool and adds a bit of coolness to the figure. Notice I don't really need a stand for this figure unless he's going to get posed, and he will. All of the armor has a good weight to it but the outer boots are heavy enough to balance the figure out.

I was a bit disappointed in that there seems to be a piece of the armor that was left out of this release. You can see in the prototype shot that there is some sort of shoulder thing, maybe its some sort of mortar or flare system? On the current armor there seems to be a hole for it but it didn't come in any of the trays and there was no place for it in the box either. :(

Lastly, we have a sheet of cool looking decals for dressing the armor up a bit. I hope someone can tell me what goes where or what's closest to the characters markings before I use these bad boys. I also tossed in a shot of two other fantasy figures for size and coolness comparison. That's all for now in this review. I told you it was going to be mostly images and not words didn't I? Till next time, have a good one!
